Pressure Vessel & Tank Surface ECA
Surface arrays can be considered for accessible vessel and tank welds, nozzles, attachment regions and selected plate surfaces. Potential uses include surface-breaking cracks and localised corrosion mapping where the probe design supports it. ECA does not replace internal volumetric examination or thickness measurement when those are the inspection objectives.

Curvature, weld reinforcement, coating, roughness and magnetic properties must be reflected in the procedure and calibration.
Different techniques may be complementary. The inspection procedure must demonstrate response to the target indication under the actual material and geometry conditions.
Information for a technical proposal
Vessel or tank drawing, material, weld schedule, surface condition, access, known damage mechanism and applicable standard.
Include expected reporting format, outage or shutdown window, site location and applicable procedure or acceptance criteria.
